Problem:
NYC commuters heavily rely on public transport. Many stations of the MTA are inaccessible to those who use a mobility device causing stairs to be a problem area for commuters using these devices.
Process:
Initial sketch models, exploring different problem areas and their potential solutions.
Form study quick sketches.
Created a mock up to figure out dimensions and logistics including necessary width of hand rail attachment, placement of neck and needed grip for handle.
Further iteration of a mock up to figure out details for dimensions for transformed form of the scooter.
Technical drawings including: scale drawings, full size wall drawings and detail drawings to figure out dimensions and how the scooter would collapse and transform.
